quote for the books.

"We learn from trials only because they cause us to pray harder to hear the messages from above. It's the experience of getting answers that help us to grow and learn. The pain and suffering doesnt do anything directly for us but it does help us to seek the spirit for help. I know for me going through the cancer.. I found nothing positive or good in anything related to the awful condition, but the prayers of others and my own made me understand the gospel better and our purpose here on hearth. It is because of that, the experience has been a great one in my life."

here's to you, ma!

You guys. heres a secret.
My mom is the most wonderful lady in the world.
She's a good wife.
a loving mother.
a stubborn cancer survivor.
a faithful church-goer.
a positive-thinking relationship guru.
a holiday extrordinarre
a prayerfully guided woman
AND, she takes in dogs from the pound.
ah, I LOVE HER!
Her heart must be 300 sizes too big.

Happy mothers day mom!
You are the best woman i know.
and the funniest.
and the most beautiful.
and i hope to be half the woman you are someday.
thank you for being my best friend and loving me unconditionally!

ps. remember when we made this for you for mothers day about 18 years ago?

ps again remember how you MUST have a sense of humor for putting your children in these awful outfits?

ordinary fairytale day

Once upon a time, last night sucked.
but im glad i have friends who will  make me laugh when i have snot/tears running down my face.
i need to not be so pms-y. but FRICK i'm a woman okay!?
i ordered 2 dozen rolls from texas roadhouse today. :/
for me. and my roommates. but mostly for me.
damn you nadeene.

i'm failing my first college class ever. and its stressin me out.
and boy (b) makes me wanna punch him in the face everytime i see him.
and, you know that terrible book i was talking about for social work?
well today it got worse. wayyyy worse.
abuse and killing worse. rated R social work worse.
so much worse that i called my mom in tears asking her if it was okay to sparknote this book instead of reading, and if it was considered cheating.
I told her the book was tearing up my soul, and she told me that it wasnt cheating if it was for a good cause.
i was delighted with that and stopped crying.
(turns out sparknotes didnt have it, so i just butchered my book report on it instead.)
anyways, the moral of the story is, i'm not going into child welfare services. too hard.
maybe i'll do international adoptions.
turn into a little angelina jolie, if you will.

tonight was much better though.
after i got that stupid report done, we skyped a friend in china.
then played mario.
then i took a bubble bath. it was awesome.
(i may or may not have played in the bubbles annnnd made a bubble beard on my face. I felt like i was 4 again. and then i remembered how i used to scuba dive in my bathtub. and this one time my mom came in hysterically laughing because she saw this little girl with her nakey butt in the air, having the time of her life in 5 inches of bath water, sporting eye and nose covering goggles and a snorkle. ahhh. memories.)

then me and my roomies had a burning ceremony of a certain someones letters. this certain someone is engaged to a certain someone else but he was supposed to marry a certain main someone.
what an idiot.
so we burned all his letters tonight.
maybe we listened to an angry t-swift song.
 it was funny.

then we had a dance party in our living room.
The End

Reason # 4,531

Reason # 4,531 as to why i love my mother..

Her text tone for all of her children is Stewie Griffin saying, 'mom. mom. mama. mama. mum. mum. ma. ma. mommy. mommy...'

oh family guy.

oh sharon booth.

So..

Maybe i left school in a rush today to make my way over the the animal shelter.
Maybe I got my Lady back.
Maybe the woman at the shelter wanted to personally euthinize me because i was back for the 3rd time in one week.

WHATEVER.

Go ahead you mean, mean woman.

You know what i think?

You look like a man. Thats why you work at the pound. THERE. i said it.

There is little Lady!!!

She is super sick though. :(

That frickin animal shelter.

Metal cages no more, Lady!

Bless my mom's heart for being a softy and texting me in stats today...

"I looked up her picture on the humane society, and she just looks so sad. I can't stand the thought of her sleeping in that metal cage with no blankets..."

love.

We love love here at the Booth house.
How great is my mom for doing this before valentines dinner? Pretty great.
It's cause she loves us or something. And she loves to give.
And yes, we did get our socks.
(..and mine are the cutest.)

"love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only what you are expecting to give - which is everything. what you will receive in return varies. but it really has no connection with what you give. you give because you love and cannot help giving." -katherine hepburn

Maybe

Love Pictures, Images and Photos

Maybe i stayed up a ll night reading Nie.
Maybe i'm a teensy bit baby hungry and hope to make sillhuettes for my kids just like Nie.
hehe.
Maybe i woke up and had M&M's for breakfast. mmm.
Maybe i slept on my valentines pillow case last night my mom made for me.
Maybe she came in to wake me up and predicted who i was going to marry just for fun.
Maybe i spent my afternoon laying in my parents bed watching a lifetime movie with my little sister.
Maybe its three oclock and I'm still wearing her tie-dye night shirt and donut pj pants.
Awesome.
Maybe we decided if our family was a movie, it definitely would be Pride and Prejudice.
Maybe we decided Jackie would be Jane and
Georgie would be Mr. Bingly.
Perfect.
Maybe we fought over who would get to be lizzy.
Maybe i love that our family loves holidays.
Maybe i'm super excited for our valentines socks we get every year from our momma.
Maybe i love that she is wearing the heart necklace my dad got her for christmas.
Maybe i love that my dad had flowers delivered to our house for her too.
you cute dad you.
Maybe i'm even more excited that we are most likely going to devour valentines candy tonight in the wee hours of the morning.
Maybe i'm excited that its my ugly dog's birthday tomorrow.
Maybe i have a date tonight.
Maybe i don't hate this holiday so much.
(even though i'm technically valentine-less.)

bigs and littles

heppy thanksgibbing everyone. :) hooray to the pilgrams for comin on over to start a wonnnnnderful land of the free. ps did you know that they brought 44 tons of BEER to the US? and only 10,000 gallons of water? pah-the-tic. no wonder every 3 seconds someone dies from alcohol poisoning.

anyways. im thankful for alot. im thankful for alot of the big things in life, but i'm also sooo grateful for the little things.

i'm thankful for..

-When my mom gets up on the little kitchen stool to search for spices in our spice cabinet

-When we break things and my pa fixes it in .02 seconds. he is magic

-My dog and how stupid he is, because he makes for great jokes. (minus when he bites little kids)

-Sister moments..example: when we have laughing attacks, or tell stories about our horrifying experiences in 'maturation' class back in the 5th grade (not a normal thing, just a funny thing that happened today. i swear.), or when we re-live childhood experiences that make us laugh until sheer tears of shame and hilariousness pour from our eyes because we were such awkward children.

-Locks on our doors so when we hear gunshots we can lock ourselves into safety asap. (mostly so michelle won't complain all night. =) love you.)

-Chocolate. Seriously

-Education. Though Logan is frigid.. (and sometimes when im experiencing the awful windchill in the morning.. i feel like hell would be decked out in ice instead of fire. ya? no? you agree?).. I'm grateful for the opportunity i have to get a good education and have parents who support the choices i make. righteous!

-Medicine. Without it, We wouldnt be able to spend extra years with our wonderful and hilarious mother. She is great. God bless chemotherapy and all the brilliant doctors out there. thank you for saving my ma, so we can have plenty of more thanksgivings together. and so she can frantically make pies the night before thanksgiving. shes so cute =)

-Friends. "People are better than no people". Sometimes you find out that your 'friends' arent really 'friends' and that sucks. But when you find a good one, a really good one, i've learned to hold onto that no matter what.

-Gospel. I'm blessed because i have total ocd about certain things..and somehow i've kept my new years resolution in reading my scrips and praying every night. how it happened? i don't know, but i'm so thankful that i've been able to do that and that i can't go to sleep without it. I'm thankful for the joy that the gospel brings into my life and the spirit it brings into our home.

-Love. Not romantic love or anything..just love. love for family, love for church, love for theater, love for learning, love for friends, love for missionaries.
"They do not love, who do not show their love" - William Shakespeare

I am so lucky.

ode to mom and dad & thirty years ago, today

today is my mom's last chemo round. i can't tell you how happy i am...this is a monumental day people! this is the last time she'll ever (cross your fingers) have to go and get pumped full of those 3 expensive bags of medicine. (which we calculated.. are like liquid gold. the bags are like worth.. $27,000 or something. sweet.) Anyways, she's a fighter and has miraculously has not only carried herself through this, but the rest of her family as well. she is the most amazing woman i've ever known in my entire life and will know in my entire life, and i'm not just saying that because she's my mom. she is my rock. she would seriously do anything for her kids...heaven knows how many times she's had to calm me down from uncontrollable crying..mostly due to breakups. she knows exactly what to say, every time. she says the funniest things ever..and she doesnt even know she's funny, thats the best part about it. she makes jokes about her wigs, and doesnt complain near enough for being a cancer patient. we were talking about it the other day, and she said...
"don't worry honey, i'm not going to die. i have too much genealogy to do."

it was my pops birthday yesterday.... 51! i totally thought he was 54 for some reason. myyyyy bad. i dont tell my dad near as much how much i appreciate him as i ought to. hes basically super dad, and once again, im not just saying that because he's my dad. he basically built our whole house in california, he can put back together any engine, he can take apart and fix computers, make something broken work, kill spiders, does a mean job of mowing the lawn.. etc. and the thing is, he is not a contractor, mechanic, or exterminator for that matter. my dad just does not rest. he IS the energizer bunny. even on holidays.. you will not see him lounging around. he will be outside working on something until my mom yells for him to wash his hands and come in for dinner. he just doesnt stop. i can't believe how blessed i am to have such hard working parents.

my parents have raised 5 daughters in the church and continually bless us everyday. I'm so grateful i was raised in the gospel and have my parent's testimonies to look up to. my mom is a breast cancer survivor, and my dad is a survivor of living with six women. huzzah. happy last chemo day mom, and happy late birthday dad! bri and share forreevvahh!

p.s. this was the best thing i heard all day....

mom: "me and your dad had our first kiss, thirty years ago, today."

tender.

wonderful.

best part of the christmas vacation:

-7 pairs of matching pajamas
-gingerbread house making competition involving: noahs arc, hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, and the secret garden... (just to name a few)
-playing christmas carols on the piano...one handed if needed due to lack of practice
-a fierce game of apples to apples where my father used the phrase: 'no fair'
-one whole day of wonderful mini helecopter flying..until it broke
-great christmas food including a broccoli christmas tree with mini tomato ornaments (thanks mom)
-annoying family pictures that we will appreciate later
-impersonating jimmy stewart while we watched 'its a wonderful life'

i love being home. i have a wonderful life.

quote of the day..

so, i saw this painting on pride and prejudice.. and the figures were not clothed at all. and this is the conversation that followed..

nicole: why was everyone always naked in the paintings back then?
dad: it was the style
mom: ...perverts.

mmm thanksgiving

i didnt realize how much i truly appreciate my home until i left. i didnt know i'd miss it so much!! i didnt know i'd miss driving down main street and passing the library and little tiny theater.. i didnt know i'd miss having my dad walk in everyday from work asking me what i learned in school that day.. or i didnt know i'd miss walking in the door and telling my dog to shut up. hahahah. i didnt know i'd miss early morning family prayer either! (i actually was pretty positive i wouldnt miss that. but i do.) i love being home. i love the feeling i get when im in kaysville. i love seeing old friends and hugging them tight and getting flashbacks of laughing so hard we could have died. good times.

i love coming home and doing anything i can for my mom while she's sick. she's devoted her whole life to her kids, and now its finally our turn to take care of her. she is such a strong woman... i look up to her more than anyone. im so greatful that chemotherapy exists. even though its so hard to see my mom sick, i know she is getting better. im so glad doctors are so smart. my mom is amazing.

i love the holidays so i can stuff my face with my family and sit around our kitchen table. im so thankful for so many things. heres a few...
-my family. my dad is the hardest working man i know and my mom is the most self-less person on this planet. my sisters are my best friends...basically, family is everything to me.
-the gospel. where would i be without it?
-my home. the happiest place on earth. (disney land has nothin on us booths.)
-education.i never wanted to go to college growing up. ever ever. im the laziest person ever. but i knew that when i decided to go, i was so lucky that i actually had a chance to further my education. "the only thing you can take with you from your time here on earth, is knowledge"
-a free country. we can worship how we want, live how we want, choose what we want, express ourselves how we want, become anything we want.. God bless America. Seriously.
-good friends. this year, i've learned that alot of friends come and go. but everyone who has came into my life has been there for a reason. i know i've found some life long friendships though. i've been influenced by so many people, and i'm so thankful i've had the friendships i've had. "its not about who you've known the longest, its about who came into your life and never left." That quote seems to get me by lately.

there is sooo much more. i'd go on about this forever if i could. life sucks alot of the time.. but when i step back and look at what i have, i feel so blessed. i'm a lucky girl.
