If only I lived in Green Gables...

So, I stole a couple Anne of Green Gables dvds from my house and have been sittin around on my arse waiting for this wretched winter storm to pass here in logan...and i've been doing nothing but hoping that Gilbert Blithe was real. He is kind. Genuine. Has boyish charm. What more could you want? He's the only man i can see myself with. (well... him and michael buble.) But seriously, whats not to love about Gilbert Blithe? I hope i love my husband as much as i love him. And thats a serious concern. Hes my only hope for a decent man in this world. If i lived in Green Gables, i'd be ALL over that. mmm! Move over carrots!

God bless PBS for broadcasting this movie in my childhood and introducing me to Gil.
(fast forward 1 minute into this youtube gem)

MARRY ME GILBERT!!!!

ps... gilbert blithe > chuck norris, edward cullen, and brad pitt. there is no question.

Happy Day to the...Leprechauns.

So, i love holidays. Maybe this one is my least favorite? Maybe..because in kindergarten..Mrs. Wheeler and Mrs. Smith combined classes for a little St. Patty's scavenger hunt.. fun, right? wrong. At the end of the little scavenger hunt, the freaking leprechaun was supposed to be found under some rock or something by the pebble pit, (a popular and common hang out for the kindergarteners). I was absolutely TERRIFIED and lagged around the back of the line, so I wouldn't have to see the little varmint runnin around. I seriously was sooo scared that he was gonna see me and like, go for my neck or something. Isnt it sort of a creepy idea? a tiny little irish man runnin around and pinchin ya if you don't wear green? Uh, way creepy.
Also, maybe I'm scared of leprechauns because on this one tv show.. the leprechaun was absolutely SO evil and tried to murder anyone and their families who touched his gold. LOOK AT HIS FACE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

I dont know. I wish i could get over it. If i saw a real live leprechaun, i would get my broom and beat it till it was immobilized. Really.
The only other memory i have of something St. Patty-ish.. is me and my friends used to look for four-leaf clovers in the field at glenmoor. That field is huge. and i found TONS. and they werent even lucky.. they shrivelled up after like, 3 days. I was weird.
Maybe i just don't understand the celebration of this day? Maybe its more fun if youre irish. Or maybe its just an excuse for people to go to pubs and get smashed.

Anyway..uhh..Happy St. Patrick's day.

What the Randy Jackson!?!?

okay guys.. here's a mind-bender... can you spot... Randy Jackson?

Yes, thats the same Randy Jackson who is the American Idol judge, famous for saying, 'Yo dog, you got talent.' Who knew he was the bassist of JOURNEY!? Who knew he had a haircut resembling that of Theo Huxtable!? Blew my mind i tell you. Blew. My. Mind.

Sign me up for Neverland

I just saw Davis High's production of 'Peter Pan'. Some of my very very best friends put this on with their class and director... It was so wonderful and passionate and perfect. Go see it.
Peter Pan - Shadow Pictures, Images and Photos

This took me back to the days of 5th grade where i was tiger lily in my school play. i sucked real bad and all i remember is my dance director was a crack addict. Anyways, basically... all i have to say is that i never, ever, ever want to grow up. And i'm being totally serious. And planning on never growing up. if you see an old lady 80 years down the road playin with dolls, thats me. opah!

HBO's "Big Love" = "Big Load of Crab Apple Mcnasty Smut" - produced by satan.

http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/commentary/the-publicity-dilemma

have i always had an older-man crush on tom hanks ever since i saw Forrest Gump? yes. do i now? NO. his show 'big love' can STUFF IT. am i handling this and ranting on this in an upright classy way? no. maybe another day i'll handle this issue calmly.

i don't understand how there could be so much disrespect among humans. We are all people. We are all one nation, and all have the right to worship freely and as we choose. Is this not in the constitution? (The forefathers are nodding their heads in heaven.) We have the right to keep sacred practices, sacred. (Nodding, once more.) The fact that the most sacred ordinances are being depicted and re-created on television by narrow-minded screen writers, (HBO the channel of SMUT no less..) makes me want to cry. do you think that there would be more of an outrage if it was a different religion? if their sacred religious practices were being exploited across the television sets of america?

okay.. lets take a look.
1. the protesters during conference?- i can put my head down and walk away.
2. the gay marriage protest on temple square?- same deal.
3. prop 8 commercials depicting mormon missionaries as 'taking rights away'?- ignore it one more time.
4. temple ceremonies on tv?-blank stare.

HBO came out and apologized for this, but is still planning on showing the season finale on sunday without regret.
"Obviously, it was not our intention to do anything disrespectful to the church, but to those who may be offended, we offer our sincere apology," read the statement. "In approaching the dramatization of the endowment ceremony, we knew we had a responsibility to be completely accurate and to show the ceremony in the proper context and with respect," Olsen and Scheffer said in an additional statement issued by HBO today. "We therefore took great pains to depict the ceremony with the dignity and reverence it is due."

this paragraph is an oxymoron. does anyone agree with me? anyone? ANYONE? they shouldnt be showing it on t.v. at ALL. they took 'great pains ?' to depict it? i will show them 'great pains'.
oh but wait.. the producers promised the church that this series isnt even about mormons....ddduuuhhh!
my eye, folks. my eye.

the church is handling this wonderfully, bless their souls. (the link at the top shows an article about it). the church has ALWAYS handled everything with the utmost respect to everyone and always been classy about it.
am i angry? no. okay sorta. disappointed in the world? yes. i think thats what upsets me most. what is this world coming to? i love mormons. and respect all religions. why cant other people respect, TRULY respect everyone else's religion?

In the words of my mother in november, i think she said it best. "One day Jesus will rule the world! And Won't that be an election day to remember!!!"

okay.. so maybe i need a breather. on a happier note, i wish that i could be this girl. So.. dear big love: watch this.
http://vimeo.com/2120177
this is an interview with a mormon girl at Harvard University. She is the president of Institute or something of that sort over there..and is in a religious press conference. The lady interviewing her is a total lefty and writes for the washington post.. but thats beside the point. She is asked some questions that i'm sure i've been asked before, but I'm almost positive i didn't answer them with this much knowledge. im serious. take this 21 minutes, and watch it. its worth it.

i want a guy who..
won't drink or smoke. ever.
won't yell at his mother.
