great people deserve CREDIT!

am i allowed to do that? PR for friends and family on my blog? of course i am. its my blog, snitches.

i hate when people put stuff on their blog like, 'hey, i have a deal with target to tell everyone on my blog to go buy their slippers. so go buy their slippers, they are comfy and have my seal of approval. dar dar dar.' ITS ANNOYING. but this....isnt that. its just loved ones who i'd like to be appreciated...mmk?

okay so, i know some very talented people. so i thought i'd take a minute and go ahead and brag/tell you about them so YOU can enjoy them as much as i do.

first of all....
i have these friends.. these guitar-playin singer best friends. they are sisters and truly have the best voices EVER. due to an amazing song they wrote that you can find HERE...they just signed a contract to be NEDA's (National Eating Disorder Association) ambassadors, and are on their way to the top! their music is amazing and you should totes check them out. You know the kinda music that makes you go.. 'yeah...thats EXACTLY how i feel!' well, that is them.
THE FALKKKKKK SISTERSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
here are 2 of my favorites i always demand them to play for me:

second of all.................
MISS BOOTH/Mrs. Petty/ Big sister Jackie.
She is a bay area photographer but ALSO comes to Utah often to do shoots. Her prices & pictures are GREAT and she is just so darn cute how can you refuse her services? She takes photos cause she loves doing it, not for the monnnaayy. Please view some of her 2011 pictures at her JUMP site!
(and how cute is this mommy/daughter shoot she did?)

third of all..................
TAMALYN. She is my 2nd in line big sister, and has an etsy shop she has been slowly working on over the past little while. Its still in the works, but she is a graphic designer lady and has some great photo layouts for photographers to sell to clients..or just people looking for the perfect photo display templates. I'm sort of bad at explaining it because i'm not a graphic designer person...so go to her  Etsy Site and take a looksie!

my ozzie.

ugh. i have only cried once since we ozzie to sleep on saturday. i'm in denial. ok maybe i'm in some serious denial. even when my sister talked about it a few weeks ago, i just told her it wasn't really gonna happen.  but...i am writing this for my sissys and my mama so they know they arent the only ones being sad. :(
and FYI i am going to sound like a weird animal lady. welp. i am.

(thizz face. he also liked to show his grill)

ive been saying my quiet little goodbyes to him every weekend for the past month.. because we knew we were going to have to put him to sleep soon. (he likes to bite strangers...and has bitten way too many lately) he was just a really good guard dog...thats all. poor guy. so what if kids on bikes looked like yummy meals to him? it wasnt his fault. :(

i got ozzie when i was 15, after me and my stupid boyfriend just broke up. i was sooooo sad and depressed, that one day at lunch i had my mom pick me up from jr. high and take me to the pet store, 'just to look.' ( yeah right, i saw ozzie earlier that week when i went with brooke to get her kitten...and i knew my mom would be a sucker if she saw this little guy.)

anywho, she saw little oz trying to cuddle with the other puppies in the cage. they shunned him, because he was awkward...and my mom felt so bad for him that she picked up the awkward little one-blue eyed dog and BAM. she was sold. she didnt let him go! we (she) paid for him, and took him home without telling my dad. hahaha. (dad learned to love him. especially when oz would steal the show during scripture study.....:/ )
anyways, my family fell in love with this awkward little puppy and has loved him so much even though he sort of was bad. my mom took care of him the most. she seriously was his bff..he wouldnt even eat if she wasnt sitting in the room with him. i'm so grateful i tricked her into buying him that day.

he's been there through everything with us! i dunno about all my sisters, but he was especially a huge comfort during my mom's cancer and all the hard stuff. he was just a big dorky comforting dog.. :( he was our go-to-guy when we all needed someone. he'd never tell us to shut up. he'd just look at us over his shoulder and pretend he was listening and then do something stupid to cheer us up. he was funny like that. he'd also ALWAYS photobomb our family pictures. he had such a weird personality, he fit right in with us (you guys, i sound weird. but if you've had a dog for that long/longer you'd understand) cmon. ONE BLUE EYE? how can you not love him?

okay so the moral of this story, is we are not pet people...something ALWAYS goes wrong with our pets. but somehow we managed to keep oz with us for 6 whole years. and 6 whole years? even though he bit everyone and was a little bit stupid/sketchy.. he was the best dog ever. from the time i was 15-21.........i've had a lot of relationship drama. and the most tender thing i'll remember about my oz... was whenever i'd have a breakup.. i'd always go down stairs late at night when everyone was sleeping and pet his head and cry...and i'd say, "at least you still love me oz, right? you'd never be mean or cheat on me. you'd never do that to me cuz youre my good boy. at least you love me." and i'd cry cry cry and he'd look at me with his stupid dummy look. i cried to him a lot. he'd comfort me in his own little way.
and i loved him for that.

why is it us humans get so attached to animals? WHY WHY WHY.
at least he is in dog heaven and biting all the people he wants up there. and he isnt limping because his legs are too little to support his fat body :(
my momma said he died peacefully. and she held his head and petted him until it was over and he was gone. :(

i came home at 2 in the morning the night we put him to sleep. i rattled the doornob as usual, and was so sad i didn't hear his loud obnoxious bark. he always gave me away when i'd try to be quiet about missing curfew....but saturday night, i missed it and started crying.
miss you ozzie. you weird, one blue eyed sweetie.

(oz agreed to be ron weasley for halloween)

(midget legs galloping away with his christmas antlers we put on him hahaha. he was vicious when we tried to dress him up.)

(jolly old st nick face? HAHAHHA. probably mocking us for trying to dress him up in the christmas antlers.)

(ozzie and his best friend, lady. two peas in a pod. she is so lonely now..wouldn't eat or play the day she realized ozzie was gone.)

(snuck him a popsicle right before my parents took him away. he deserved it. yum.)

(last time with my oz)

Day 20

And so it continues.. the 30 day blog challenge i swore i'd finish because i never finish ANYTHING.

Day 20: List your siblings

(yes, we sported the painfully awkward 90's mormon dresses..)

...(unfortunately here, we must have skipped documenting michelles awkward phase and picked up 10 years later)

Jackie: The eldest. a 27 year old tattle tale!!! home-ec teacher that all the boys crush on. tall, blonde, skinny drink of water. Married to a very wonderful man named George.

Tami: BYUI student...the creative one. loves literature, writing ,and the hippie of the family. (only because she hates zoo's and think they are evil)

Kristin: BYU provo. She sings when she empties the dishwasher and says whats on her mind no matter what. She prefers her men to be tall, thick, and able to grow a beard. a real man- if you will.

Michelle: baby of the family. stupid beautiful never-dyed hair. a bit quieter than the rest of us when it comes to talking about boys....a jr. in highschool and busy 'true darting' boys.

I like all my sisters. Thats lucky...and I am glad.

mambo numbo five. (+happy birthday chelle)

5. Something that makes you feel better.

well.. a few things.
maybe this is selfish and prissy of me...
but the one thing that always makes me feel better? like when i have a suuuuuper bad day or get dumped by a boy?

a new pair of shoes.

honestly. it doesnt matter if they are flats or heels. my last break up i got sneakers... the one before that i think it was black stillettos..  haha. and i have QUITE the collection. I'll just leave it at that.

getting my nails done
my mama knows when i needa manicure. she'll force me to go 'get beautiful' if i am having a depressing week. after i get my nails did, i feel all purrty and confident. haaaa. self centered? maybe.

my mama
Shes my best friend. and ALWAYS has some sort of advice...whether its good advice or bad advice haha. (you know its true, mother.) She always makes me feel good about myself- and i know she is the one person i can always go to if i need anything...because she will always think i'm wonderful, even when i'm not. thats how mamas should be.

ALSO

my little sister is 17 today. ahhhhh. my LITTLE sister. i remember the day she was born!!! how weird.
she is so pretty and cute and nice and is just great. so glad she was born. enjoy these little pictures from the mid-90's.

Update

Well, December has come and gone. which means all the best holidays are gone too.
  • Christmas
  • My birthday
  • and NEW YEARRRS.

Christmas was great- up until my puppy ate a nylon sock and we almost had to send her to the big doggie playground in the sky.. luckily the surgeon saved her.

My birthday was great- lots of family and presents and my sister jackie surprised me by being a sneaky snitch and having some of my friends come over to surprise me after dinner. How am i so oblivious? maybe i was too focused on my food at wingers to notice any sneaky sketchiness going on between my family members. SNEAKY.

New Years eve was rung in with work in logan, nannying for my two boys. Its always a party with them...i then consumed too much icecream and 2 delicious pieces of Great Value cheesecake and i'm pretty sure I stayed up till 5 a.m. God bless america!

Gramps

A few days ago was Grandpas funeral.
It was sad, but surprisingly comforting to know he was reunited with his sweet love, Lorraine.

When i walked into the funeral home to start playing prelude..i passed my cousins, talking and laughing. (i'm glad for mormon funerals. no black and strange mourning...) i walked by my grandpa's casket, which was open. my first thought was nothing. nothing came to my mind. blank. then i thought that it wasn't real. then i thought it didn't look like him..at all. thats not the grandpa i grew up with. where were his wrinkles? where was his skin color, and why did his whispy hair look different? his lips were skinny and dark.. it wasnt grandpa. i felt strange and wanted to get away from the casket as fast as i could..even though it was just my grandpa. is that bad? i knew though that it was him, but it wasn't. his spirit didn't reside in that body at all. it was completely empty and we were all sure of that.

i played the piano during the service...didn't cry because i was too focused on not messing up. i glanced over at grandpa a few times during the prelude..but quickly looked away each time. when the funeral director asked if anyone wanted to get up to see him before he closed the casket, i hesitated. in my mind i thoguht i should, but my body wouldnt move. good thing i don't know how to make decisions... i don't like that i'm going to remember that image of him. no one should remember a loved one in that image. When we watched him closing the cakset.. the first thing that came to my mind was that they shouldn't be closing it. they need to let him breathe..he'll be shut away if they close it. what was i thinking?

things got lighter when we all discussed his jokes and the things he used to say "you can marry more money in a day than you can make in a lifetime" thank you, don.

we talked about when he met grandma right after he got home from the navy.. and how she was 'very impressed' with him. (she wrote a poem about 'that day in may' when she saw him being greeted by all his friends who were so happy that he was home.. she remembered seeing him the icecream parlor and being soooo twitterpated by him and how popular he was. cuuuute. she read it to me 2 weeks before she died. it was darling.) they fell in love and after five years, ran off to the pink flamingo in vegas to get married. haha i dont even know why. thats so random of them.. but they later were sealed in the temple.

i held it together pretty well until the graveside service. my cousins and uncles were the pallbearers for him, and carried his casket right next to where my grandma is burried...i didnt go to my grandma's graveside service after she died.. i just didn't want to. i have always felt weird about things like that.. but since this was right after the funeral, our whole family attended.

As they carried him to his final resting place, the navy colorguard soluted his passing casket. i cried.
When the bugle player played 'taps' i felt like i was in the movies. i don't know why.. it was just surreal. i watched the colorguard slowly and carefully fold the flag while the bugle player finished his song, and we watched him bend forward and hand it to my uncle who has been his caretaker the past 5 years.
"on behalf of the president of the united states..."

i wept. my cousins wept. voices held back shakes as prayers were given...and then it was done. the make-shift boutineers i made hours before were placed on his casket in a final tribute.

tears left and comfort ensued. over dinner we talked with cousins and other family about memories we had from when we were little.. sneaking into places.. games we used to play...funny memories of what awkward children we were.. and it was just comforting. peace to know that families are forever, and death is not the end. it isn't. and i feel so sad for those who think it is.

updateeeeeeeee

so i havent blogged in a while.
maybe its because i've had a life as of late? maybe.

wellllll. heres whats up. i came home from hawaii a bit early... their mom had to go to bermuda, so the kids went to the mainland to their grandparents house for two weeks. so i got to come home early :) yes..'got to'...i missed everyone so much. and i can't tell you how happy i am to be home and not watching Sid the Science kid.. or curious george.. or martha speaks..mannnn. i forgot how annoying those theme songs get. what ever happened to arthur? those were the days. when 'gogurts' didn't exist, and only peanut butter sammys on wheat bread existed.

saying bye was a wee bit sad..but hey. i'll never have to catch them peeing in inappropriate places again. yahtzee.

today we went boating with the fam... all of us are lobsters.

also did the obligatory family photos in between thunder storms..mostly i just put up the silly ones.

we're about to nom on cafe rio now. jackie and georgie are here. andrew too. :)

its a good life.
